DAVID GOEWEY DUBOU

DIRECTOR OF SALES & EDUCATION—INDIGENOUS SELECTIONS

Over the last 20 years, David has traveled much of the world studying and collaborating with iconic winemakers and Master Sommeliers. Today, as the Director of Sales and Education for Indigenous Selections, David’s focus and passion is Italy.

Indigenous Selections is a family of exceptional Italian producers who are all farmers first. Each producer firmly believes that great wines are grown, not made. Everything we do at Indigenous Selections comes from a winemaker’s perspective, as we are a unique import company that is owned and managed by an Italian winemaker. Our portfolio includes wines from Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto, Campania, Sicily and Friuli and is completed by a selection of Indigenous label wines, each of which has been hand-selected by Giorgio Rivetti to offer an interesting and authentic Italian wine experience.

THE WINES

La Spinetta 2021 Rosé “Il Rose di Casanova”

91 Points, Vinous: “The 2021 Il Rosé di Casanova is lovely with a bouquet that’s more savory than sweet, mixing crushed rocks with white strawberries and peach skins. While soothingly soft, there’s a salty core of minerality and vibrant acidity that creates a juicy and energetic expression, further accentuated by hints of sour melon. The 2021 tapers off remarkably fresh with a candied citrus twang and leaves the mouth watering for more. The Il Rosé di Casanova is an equal-parts blend of Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile.”

50% Sangiovese, 50% Prugnolo Gentile | Pairing suggestion: Caprese Salad

La Spinetta 2018 Chianti Riserva DOCG “Casanova”

91 Points, James Suckling: “A firm and linear red with sliced orange peel and dark cherries. Medium body. Bright acidity. Clean finish.”

100% Sangiovese | Pairing suggestion: Pasta Bolognese

Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona 2017 Brunello di Montalcino

97+ Points + “Editor’s Choice,” The Wine Enthusiast: “This delicious, bold red offers inviting aromas of fragrant blue flowers, spiced plum, forest floor and pipe tobacco. Full and enveloping in feel, it delivers a great depth of juicy black cherry, black raspberry, licorice and baking spice flavors framed in velvety tannins.”

100% Sangiovese Grosso | Paring suggestion: Wild Boar Ragu

Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona 2020 “Ateo”

89 Points, The Wine Enthusiast: “A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this opens with aromas of dark-skinned fruit, cedar and scorched earth. The aromas carry over to the full-bodied palate alongside a balsamic note and polished tannins. Drink through 2024.”

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot | Pairing suggestion: Grilled Ribeye
