Diane Penning (soprano) has performed with orchestras throughout the country. She is known for both her classic and pops repertoires. She has worked with the Apollo Chorus in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, The Kalamazoo Bach Festival, and the Calvin College Oratorio Society. Penning has played Adele in Die Fledermaus, Frasquita in Carmen, Musetta in La Boheme, and Papagena in The Magic Flute. She also performs cabaret.
Penning is also a member of the Hildegard Sisters. A four member group of professional women singers who specialize in Medieval and Renaissance motets and carols. They have performed at the International Conference on St. Ursula at the University of Trinity St. David in Carmarthen Wales in 2013. They have played at the Queens’ College in Cambridge, England and various venues in Florida and Michigan.
She has a Bachelors of Music from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Voice from Western Michigan University. She is also an adjunct voice instructor at Grand Rapids Community College. Penning is also an adjunct instructor on the faculties of Kalmazoo College and Grand Valley State University.
