Take a journey in sound, from France to Spain to the Atlantic, with Duo Terra. Patricia García Gil, piano, and Tania Mesa, violin, combine their talents for this adventure, taking place at The Billings Depot as part of the Billings Symphony’s Sukin Series.

This concert is supported by a grant from Acción Cultural Española.

Due to complications with travel, this concert is in place of the previously scheduled Ensemble Bayona. The group has been postponed to the 2023-2024 season.

Tania Mesa is a crossover-style violinist and singer from the Canary Islands, a southern region of Spain. She studied classical violin at ESMUC-Barcelona and contemporary music at Berklee. Tania has toured worldwide with The World Orchestra for Peace (UNESCO), the Berklee Silent Film Orchestra, with well-known artists such as Manolo García, Joan Manuel Serrat, and performed with Dream Theater and Alejandro Sanz.

In the theater world, Tania has performed as a singer and violin player, as well as acting and dancing at National Theater of Catalonia and Caixaforum auditoriums in Barcelona and Madrid and in the USA, including Fandango for Butterflies featured by the New York Times. She also recorded Spanish vocals for the Walt Disney Company film Fucsia, the Mini Witch.

Tania has also performed and recorded with celebrated flamenco artists Josemi Carmona, Antonio Serrano and José Mercé on his album “Doy la Cara,” produced by Javier Limón nominated for a Latin Grammy. She performed with Grammy winners Terence Blanchard, Pablo Ziegler and with Jacob Collier at MIT Kresge Auditorium. She is the newest member of the NYC based Son Jarocho band Jarana Beat and leads her own original music band Tania Mesa & The Mediterranean Soul.


Patricia García Gil is one of the most versatile pianists of her generation. Her brilliant career has already given rise to a considerable amount of concert tours throughout the world, having performed recitals and concerts as a soloist with different orchestras in Europe, China, and the USA. Her concerts have been recorded and showcased by the Spanish National Radio, Radio Catalunya, and Radio Television Hong Kong, attracting the interest of the press, that has described her performances as “set apart by consummate musicianship, confident technique and elegant interpretation that manifested itself across the wide range of repertoire on her program”, “tremendous energy and precision”, “clean, sensitive playing”, “originality, genius, mastery, virtuosity, interaction with the listeners.”
