The Rocky Mountain Jazz Collective turns its focus to Thelonious Monk, one of Jazz’s most original and influential voices. In this special June program, Monk’s unmistakable music—by turns playful, angular, and deeply swinging—is reimagined through all-new arrangements written specifically for the ensemble. Drawing on Monk’s wit, surprise, and bold sense of form, this concert offers a fresh big band perspective on a composer who forever changed the sound of Jazz.
