Billings Symphony, guest cellist bring magic to lush concert

The Billings Symphony Orchestra’s “Sibelius 5” concert last weekend at the Alberta Bair Theater was a cornucopia of music fit for the changing of the seasons.

Following tradition, the orchestra, led by music director Anne Harrigan, opened the first concert in the classic series with a stirring rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” With Harrigan lifting her arms, signaling the audience to sing louder, the theater filled with the powerful words of our national anthem.

“Opening night is always exciting,” Harrigan said. “You will be thrilled beyond belief tonight to hear our guest artist.”
