The Billings Symphony Orchestra Announces Auditions for Tenured and Substitute Musicians
October 23, 2023, BILLINGS MT – The Billings Symphony announces auditions for the Principal Bassoon and Second Trumpet. Live auditions for these two tenured positions will take place on Sunday, January 21, 2024. In addition, the Symphony is once again accepting online substitute-only auditions for all positions.
Visit the Billings Symphony Orchestra careers webpage at https://billingssymphony.org/auditions/ for audition information, repertoire listings, and applications. Audition materials will be sent via email from our Director of Artistic Operations upon submission of an audition application. The required pre-screening deadline for Principal Bassoon is Monday, November 20, while the required registration deadline for Second Trumpet is Friday, January 5. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
The Billings Symphony is a professional orchestra, and all musicians must successfully complete a double-blind audition* prior to engagement. Double-blind auditions are held with the candidate performing behind a screen where the auditionee cannot see the audition committee and in the same fashion, the audition committee does not know the identity of the auditionee. (*Final rounds may be unblinded.)
“The Billings Symphony Orchestra is an extraordinary professional orchestra, populated with passionate, talented musicians,” says Anne Harrigan, music director and conductor of the BSOC. “We strongly encourage musicians from around the region who are interested in playing at this level to audition.”
Tenure-track and intern auditions for all strings, including Assistant Concertmaster, will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Details and open registration will be announced in early 2024. Auditions for the Billings Symphony Chorale will be held in late August 2024. More information will be posted on the Billings Symphony’s careers webpage in July.
