The Billings Symphony Orchestra Announces Auditions for Tenured and Substitute Musicians
FEBRUARY 26, 2023, BILLINGS MT – The Billings Symphony announces auditions for the Assistant Concertmaster and all String Sections. Live auditions for these tenured positions will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024. In addition, the Symphony is once again accepting online substitute-only auditions for all positions.
Visit the Billings Symphony Orchestra careers webpage at https://billingssymphony.org/auditions/ for audition information, repertoire listings, and applications. Audition materials will be sent via email from our Director of Artistic Operations upon submission of an audition application. The required registration deadline for all positions is Friday, April 12. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
The Billings Symphony is a professional orchestra, and all musicians must successfully complete a double-blind audition* prior to engagement. Double-blind auditions are held with the candidate performing behind a screen where the auditionee cannot see the audition committee and in the same fashion, the audition committee does not know the identity of the auditionee. (*Final rounds may be unblinded.)
“The Billings Symphony Orchestra is an extraordinary professional orchestra, populated with passionate, talented musicians,” says Anne Harrigan, music director and conductor of the BSOC. “We strongly encourage musicians from around the region who are interested in playing at this level to audition.”
The Billings Symphony Orchestra and Chorale is the largest professional orchestra in Montana. Established in 1951, the BSOC strives to enrich lives through music. Consisting of over 135 musicians, the BSOC serves a regional population of 400,000 people located throughout South Central and Eastern Montana, and Northeastern Wyoming by introducing music to children, youth, adults, and seniors through Explore Music!, the BSOC’s community engagement program.
